Wednesday 27th May
Good morning everybody,
I hope you have been out enjoying this fabulous weather! For our Wednesday activity there is an egg drop experiment. We would normally do this in class but you might have fun doing it at home with your family.
Thank you to those who have already sent me a picture of themselves holding up a decorated page of what they miss about school. Please email them to me by Friday.
Well done to Evana, Sam, Finlay and Jayden for working on the mouldy bread experiment.
Aimee doing some delicious baking. Yum!
Year 6 Learning from Home
Week Beginning 25th May
It's Alfie's turn to send you a little message from me - you are all of these things! Stay safe, work hard, have courage and be kind. ♥
Mrs Sproule, Miss Vance and I are so proud of Jayden, Lauren, Izzie, Evana and Aimee. They received certificates from Healthy Kidz for all their hard work and effort with practising for Sports Day, on Saturday 13th June 2020.
Good morning to my class,
Today is a bank holiday so you might not be starting work until tomorrow. If so, enjoy your day off. I think mum and dad will enjoy their day off too!
Thank you so much to those of you who have e-mailed me or sent me work, I really appreciate it and, as always, am delighted with your hard work and effort. It was also good to hear that you were having fun with it!
I have been thinking back to the 'Random Acts of Kindness' that we talked about way back in January. It feels like kindness has never been needed more than now, when things seem strange and uncertain. Small things can make a big difference, so try to think of ways you could show your family and friends that you care. You don't have to be able to see people to be kind to them! Perhaps you could make tea for mum, send a friend a virtual hug or ring granny for a chat.
Most of all though, I want you to practise kindness to yourself. You talk to yourself more than anyone else, so speak kind and encouraging thoughts. Be glad about the things that make you unique and remember how valuable you are to those who love you.
Take care and stay safe,
From Mrs McKeown x
Thank you to Evana, Jayden and Niall for your excellent 'Useless Products.'

Sophie's Marble Run.
This looks fantastic Sophie!
Wednesday 20th May
Good morning Year 6. We are fairly marching through May! I hope you have had a good week so far? I wonder if you have started creating your advertisements or if any of you tried the rainbow rice?
Today I have uploaded a variety of activities; for the builders among you there is a marble run challenge, or you may prefer to do a word search or some 'enlargement' drawings of rainforest animals. Whatever you get up to - have fun! I'm looking forward to seeing how you all got on.
Lots of love from Mrs McKeown x
A big thank you to Amber for her beautiful art work. It is so special to receive your messages. ♥

There is a little activity sheet to go with it or you
might like to design and write me a quiz, which I
will do my best to answer!!

Week 3 PDMU - Brain Break Activities
Wednesday 29th April
Good morning Year 6.
Well done for all the work you are doing! I
have already seen amazing alphabetical order and a soap experiment in action, (I did that soap experiment too - lots of fun!)
Our Wednesday challenge is to create an NHS mascot. In the folders below you will find an NHS Powerpoint which will help explain how the NHS started and the amazing work it does. (Remember Matthew and Jodie-Leigh; our tired doctor and bossy nurse!!) There is a little quiz at the end to see how much you remembered.
After you have read and thought about the NHS, I would like you to work through the Powerpoint I have made for you. This explains exactly what I am looking for and will allow you to let your creative juices flow! I cannot wait to see your creations – please e-mail me the finished result on firstname.lastname@example.org
I have also included a link to BBC Bitesize which provides lovely online lessons to recap on previous learning (for example, yesterday's numeracy was multiplication), or new learning about the World Around Us.
Lots of love from Mrs McKeown x
Useful sites for you to try:
The Maths Factor - with Carol Voderman.
David Walliams is reading some of his stories every day.
If you fancy some cooking try Chef Theo Michael.
Or perhaps you are looking for arts and crafts ideas.
Week beginning 27th April - Week 2
Earth Day Pictures
I have made a collage of the things that remind me of us! Some pictures relate to more than one person of course. Can you find yourself - or your friends?
I was really excited to find some favourite books of mine; 'White Fang', '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea' and 'Black Beauty' on the Oxford Owl site. You might enjoy them too, or find others that you would like to read.
Lego lovers might like to enjoy doing the 30 day lego challenge.
Click on the link above and follow the instructions for each day. The only rule is to use your imagination and have fun! Take lots of photos. I can't wait to what you create!
Dear Parents of Year 6 children,
The above is a link to a free digital book which helps explain the coronavirus to children - you may find it useful.

Dear parents and pupils,
I hope that home learning has been going well and that you have found the website easy to navigate. A huge thank you to you all for the good work that I know is going on, with this very different form of learning!
Now that home learning has commenced online here is my contact c2k email address email@example.com
In the unprecedented circumstances we face, unfortunately we will not be able to mark all set work and give pupil feedback that normally occurs in the life a classroom. Only work requested by the teacher will be required to be forwarded via the teacher school e-mail address. If you do not wish or it does not suit you to send work, there is no obligation to do so.
I would love to see your comprehension work on Greta Thunberg or a picture of an Earth Day activity, so if it is possible please send me a picture.
The letter below explains some Earth Day activities that you might like to do.
