Finn Valley cross country 2024
On Wednesday 11th September, 31 pupils travelled to Finn Valley AC, Stranorlar, to take part in a cross country competition. We had a fantastic day out and enjoyed the autumn sunshine. All pupils took part with pride and worked hard throughout the course. Everyone finished in good spirits and gave it their all. A special mention to our 2 medal winners Blake Waugh 4th and Jake Burke 5th in the Under 9 boys race. Other notable performances were Gaby Lyons 10th in Under 9 girls and Cayden O'Kane 10th in Under 9 boys.
Edwards Cross Country Challenge 2023
On Monday 23rd October 346 pupils from 14 schools took part in the Edwards PS Cross Country Challenge at Castlederg High School. It was great to see lots of local schools as well as some schools from further afield out to support this event. All pupils represented their schools with pride and determination. Thank you to Mr Lowry (CHS), Miss Foster (Edwards PS) and Mark Connolly (Finn Valley AC) for their hard work in organising the event. Finn Valley Cross Country 2023
29 pupils from Edwards Primary School were selected from trials in school to compete in the Finn Valley Cross Country Challenge in Stranorlar on Tuesday 19th September 2023. All pupils took part with pride and determination and there were over 100 competitors in each race. Well done to everyone for completing the course and representing the school so well.
Results:
Under 9 girls - Hannah Donald 25th, Gaby Lyons 28th, Charlotte Stevenson 38th, Poppy Woods 39th.
Under 9 boys - Jake Burke 8th, Harry Forbes 29th, Blake Waugh 36th, Cayden O'Kane 40th, Tyler Loughlin 48th.
Under 11 girls - Mille Donald 18th, Skye Lecky 45th, Alex Liggett 56th.
Under 11 boys - Alex Galbraith 44th, Matthew Forbes 59th, Masyn Baxter 60th, Seth Clarke 68th.
Under 13 boys - Noah Clarke 29th.
On Wednesday 26th October 2022 there were 420 pupils from 16 schools turned out to compete in the Edwards Primary School Cross Country Challenge at Castlederg High School. It was a dry and windy event but that didn't spoil the enthusiasm, grit and determination of runners who took to the track to compete against local rivals. Thank you to all the schools for coming along to our first cross country event in Castlederg. You all made it a massive success! Thank you to the Edwards parents for their help on the day, to Mr Burns and Year 11 students for the use of their facilities and their help with the track. Thank you to Aine Igoe from 'Sunshine Photography' for all the brilliant photographs. Thank you to Mark Connolly, Derry Strabane District Council, for his expertise and help with setting up, database systems, assigning bib numbers and writing up results.
