It is fun in Year 1!
Look at us as busy as can be! ...Can you see me?
Hola!
We are enjoying learing Spanish in Year 1 with Mrs Lowry
Adios amigos
We were fondly remembering the life of Queen Elizabeth II in Year 1. We all loved her crown, her corgi's and her carriage. We drew beautiful portraits to honour her life and work.
Our topic is 'OUR COLOURFUL WORLD' and we are exploring lots of colour themed rhymes, songs and stories....Can you work out the colours in them all?
We have been thinking about Noah and his big ark. He put lots of animals inside. We were making animal patterns. We all loved the beautiful colourful rainbow in the story. We made colourful necklaces, we had to thread the coloured beads. We use paint and a sponge to make our rainbow pictures. Our rocking arks look great and they are packed full of animals!
Look at our beautiful butterflies - they have lovely colourful patterns on their wings
We made colourful circle art just like the artist Kandinsky - we had to draw, cut and stick. They are bright and beautiful!
We celebrated European Languages Day with lots of fun, songs, stories and treats. Estupendo!
We read the lovely story about Rainbow Fish who learnt how to share his beautiful shiny scales. We have been thinking about how we can share too! We printed Rainbow Fish pictures and added glitter to make them shimmer and sparkle!
ELMER is a colourful patchwork elephant. He looked a bit different than all his other friends but he knew all the elephants in the herd were special no matter what they looked like!
Another of our favourite topic stories was 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See?' We had fun learning to remember the story characters in order.
The nights are getting dark early and we have been thinking about how to keep safe at when we are out and about ...... KEEP BRIGHT AT NIGHT!
We enjoyed our colourful JELLY PARTY to finish off our topic...yummy yummy in my tummy! The strawberry flavour was the most popular but we also loved blackcurrant, orange, lemon and lime!
Well done Year 1 for learning our Sound Rhyme for our Spellathon challenge! You were all super! Congratulations everyone!
We had a great day out in Gortin Forest looking for signs of Autumn and we found lots of animals along the way...
Some reindeer came so close to say 'hello' to me, a red squirrel scampered up a tree but was so fast some did not see!
We made homes for a hedgehog....some Grand Designs!
Food and fun ended our day away...
Autumn leaves are falling down - red, yellow, orange and brown.

Roy from Senitus (focusing on STEM subjects) came to Year 1 today to help us build some houses from different materials for the 3 Little Pigs - we had a straw house, a brick house and a stick house. Some of them fell down when we huffed and puffed like the big wolf! We discovered that they needed firm foundations to be strong. A triangle was a great shape for building with and Roy was impressed with our team work!
Such a lot of hufffing and puffing!
A part of our Fabulous Fashion topic we are listening to lots of stories and song all about clothes and shoes. One of our favourites is about Pete the Cat who just loves his new shoes...
