Edwards exterior

We are blessed to have extensive grounds around our school building which add not only to the ambience but the potential to bring the classroom outdoors.

There are two playgrounds for the main school with the Nursery having their own outdoor area.  Each playground has a tarmac area as well as a softplay area with play equipment.  Years 1-3 use the smaller of the playgrounds and Years 4-7 use the larger area.  Each classroom has easy access to their designated area.  There is storage in each playground  to hold a variety of resources the pupils use to enhance break and lunch times.  The small playground hosts a stone circular wall which is popular for a class to sit for outdoor story time and there are some outdoor musical instruments.

We also have a courtyard which you can access from within our school building.  This is a safe and sheltered area which can be used for play or learning activities.

We have a forest area which is very popular with the children in all seasons.  There is a path with guided markers highlighting different trees and leaves through the trees.  The children can use this area as part of their daily outdoor playtimes or with a teacher as part of a lesson.

We have spacious grass areas in our school grounds and have a designated area for a football pitch.  This area comes to life especially in the summer term with the pitch marked out for sport's day races.  The children love to play here at lunch times in the better weather but it has also been known to host many a snowman in the winter season!

We also have an area designated to raised beds and planters.  The gardening club members are often found here.  Many children visit this area as part of their curriculum learning.
